Eligibility Criteria for Northeast Frontier Railway Recruitment 2026
Before applying for Northeast Frontier Railway Recruitment 2026, candidates should carefully check the required educational qualification and age limit. Also, make sure all required certificates are completed before the notification date.
Educational Qualification
For General Trades
Candidates must meet the following conditions:
- Pass Matriculation (Class 10) or an equivalent examination under the 10+2 education system.
- Score at least 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized board.
- Hold a National Trade Certificate (ITI) in the notified trade issued by NCVT or a Provisional Certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT.
For Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology & Radiology)
Candidates must:
- Pass Class 12 under the 10+2 system.
- Study Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
- Secure at least 50% aggregate marks in both Class 10 and Class 12.
- ITI certificate is not required for these medical training slots.
Note:
- SC, ST, and PwBD candidates do not need the minimum 50% aggregate marks in Matriculation.
- All technical qualifications must be completed before the notification date.
Age Limit
Candidates must be 15 to 24 years of age as on 19-08-2026.
Age Relaxation
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- Ex-Servicemen (ExSM): Length of defence service plus 3 years, provided they have completed at least 6 months of continuous service.
Selection Process
The selection process is completely based on academic merit. Therefore, there will be no written examination.

The merit list will be prepared using the average percentage of:
- Matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate where applicable)
- ITI Trade Marks
Merit List for Medical Laboratory Technician
The merit list will be prepared using the average percentage of:
- Class 10 Marks
- Class 12 Science Marks (Physics, Chemistry and Biology)
Tie-Breaking Rules
If two or more candidates get the same marks:
- The older candidate will receive a higher rank.
- However, if the date of birth is also the same, the candidate who passed the Matriculation examination earlier will receive preference.
Document Verification
After that, shortlisted candidates will be called for Document Verification (DV). The Railway administration may call candidates up to 1.5 times the number of notified training slots.
Candidates must carry:
- Original educational certificates
- ITI certificate (where applicable)
- Category certificate (if applicable)
- Medical Fitness Certificate signed by a Government-authorized Gazetted Doctor not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon
