Contract Period
- Initial appointment will be for one year.
- The contract may be extended.

Eligibility Criteria

Professor
Applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Must have worked as an Associate Professor in the concerned subject for at least 3 years in a recognized medical institution.
- Candidates with equivalent clinical or teaching experience as a Specialist Medical Officer in the Armed Forces are also eligible.
- Must have at least two research publications after becoming an Associate Professor. The candidate should be one of the first three authors.
- Must have completed the Basic Course in Biomedical Research from a recognized institute.
- Must complete the Basic Course in Medical Education if the broad specialty comes under undergraduate teaching.
- Senior Consultants with 3 years of experience as a PG teacher in an NBEMS-recognized Government institute are also eligible.
Associate Professor
Candidates applying under Shillong Medical College Associate Professor Recruitment 2026 must satisfy the following requirements:
- Must have worked as an Assistant Professor for 4 years in a recognized medical institution.
- Candidates directly appointed as Assistant Professors in Government Medical Colleges must have 5 years of experience.
- Armed Forces Specialists must have 5 years of post-PG clinical experience, including 3 years as an Assistant Professor.
- Must have at least two research publications after becoming an Assistant Professor. The candidate should be one of the first three authors.
- Must have completed the Basic Course in Biomedical Research.
- If the Basic Course in Medical Education has not been completed earlier, it must be completed within two years of appointment.
- Non-teaching Consultants or Medical Officers with a postgraduate degree and 10 years of experience in a Government hospital having at least 220 beds are also eligible.
