SSC CHSL 2024 Exam Date, Notification Out & Application Form

Every year, the Staff Selection Commission administers the Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) Exam at the federal level of government to choose Higher Secondary qualified candidates for various Indian government departments and agencies. Through the SSC CHSL Exam, thousands of positions in government agencies are filled by the SSC each year, to which lakhs of applicants apply. On April 8, 2024, the Staff Selection Commission published the comprehensive SSC CHSL Notification 2024 and the application form for the 3712 open positions for LDC, JSA, and DEO.


The SSC CHSL (10+2) exam covers positions for data entry operators, junior secretariat assistants, postal assistants, sorting assistants, and lower division clerks. Through computer-based testing, talent testing, and typing tests, SSC will choose and suggest applicants for Assistant/Clerk positions. Two phases, referred to as Tiers, comprise the SSC CHSL test. The official SSC CHSL website is used for the full online registration and communication procedure. Before being chosen, candidates must pass each round of the SSC CHSL test in order to move on to the next.

Exam for SSC CHSL 2024

The Staff Selection Commission holds the SSC CHSL test once a year for candidates seeking positions in the Government of India’s Ministries, Departments, and Organisations. The Staff Selection Commission Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination is what SSC CHSL is officially known as. The official notice and exam schedule for the SSC CHSL 2024 have been released by SSC. The application forms and comprehensive notification were made available on April 8, 2024, at https://ssc.gov.in. The online application deadline is May 7, 2024. SSC CHSL 2024 Pay Scale & Salary

Below is the pay scale for the various positions available to candidates who pass the SSC Combined Higher Secondary Level exam:

Application Fee

✅ For the General Category in SSC CHSL 2024, an application fee of Rs. 100 is necessary.
✅ Exemption: Candidates who are female, SC, ST, physically handicapped, or who are ex-servicemen are not needed to pay a fee.

SSC CHSL Exam Eligibility Requirements

A candidate has to meet three significant requirements in order to be eligible for the SSC CHSL 2024 test. Below are the three parameters:

SSC CHSL Nationality

A candidate must be one of the following:

(a) an Indian citizen; (b) a subject of Nepal; (c) a subject of Bhutan; (d) a Tibetan refugee who arrived in India prior to January 1, 1962, with the intention of settling there permanently; or (e) an Indian citizen who has immigrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka; Kenya, Uganda; the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar); Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam; or any combination of these countries.

Age Limit (as of January 8, 2024)

The SSC CHSL 2024 positions have an age range of 18 to 27 years old. Applicants must be born on or before August 02, 1997, and must not have turned one on or before August 01, 2006. The following list represents acceptable deviations from the maximum age restriction for each category:

Qualifications (as of January 8, 2024)

With the exception of DEOs in departments or ministries, for LDC/JSA and DEO/DEO Grade “A”: The 12th Standard or an equivalent test from an accredited Board or University is required of applicants who intend to sit for the CHSL 2024 exam.

For the position of Data Entry Operator (DEO) or DEO Grade “A” in the Ministries of Culture, Food & Public Distribution, and Consumer Affairs, candidates must have completed the 12th Standard with a science stream and mathematics as a subject from an approved Board or have an equivalent.

Exam Pattern for SSC CHSL 2024

For a variety of positions, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) begins holding the Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) in two levels:

Changes in the curriculum and exam format should be noted before starting SSC CHSL study. The following are the changes made to the SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2024:

  • The SSC CHSL 2024 Tier 1 test will be administered online.
  • Within 60 minutes, the introduction of a 100-point descriptive report written on pen and paper.
  • A 60-minute examination period instead of a 75-minute one for Tier I candidates.
  • The Objective Multiple Choice + Skill Test and Typing Test are part of Tier II.

This test is objective and will be administered online. The Tier 1 test of the SSC CHSL test consists of 4 parts and 100 questions totaling 200 marks. Subject-specific information is provided.
